Facebook and Google have said they will let employees continue to work from home for the rest of this year.

The tech giant has announced plans to re-open their offices immediately but allow more home working flexibility.

Google initially said it would continue to work from home policy until June 1, but extend for seven months.

Google's chief executive Sundar Pichai said that employees who need to go back to the office will begin to be able to do from July with enhanced security measures in place.

But the majority of employees who can carry out their work from home will be able to do so until the end of the year, Mr Pichai added.

The announcement coincides with this up because more companies started to roll out the strategy back-to-work them.

"Facebook has taken the next step in a return to the philosophy of work. Today, we announced anyone who can do their work remotely can choose to do so through the end of the year," the spokesman said. "As you can imagine this is a situation that develops as employees and their families make important decisions re :. Back to work"

Facebook is still determining which employees will be asked to come, the spokesman added.

Social media platforms is one of the first technology companies are asking employees to start working remotely. Facebook gives employees $ 1,000 (£ 807) bonus for their work-from-home and child care costs.

The tendency to work from home may suit some companies when they redesigned their office space to cater new guidelines for social distance. Some employees nervous about going back to work in the midst of a global pandemic.
